Actions in solidarity with the Gaza Freedom March are being planned all over the world, including in the Bay Area. Join us to mark one year since the Israeli attack on Gaza, and to support the Gaza Freedom March. As part of the International Coalition to End the Illegal Siege of Gaza, the Gaza Freedom March Bay Area needs your help to draw attention to the inhumane siege, and to the significance of this historic march in defying the blockade. THURSDAY DECEMBER 31, 2009: Gaza Freedom March Across the Golden Gate Bridge, 12-2pm
Park and meet at south end of the bridge parking lot and march together across the bridge. We will mark the end of the year by marching in solidarity with the Palestinian people of Gaza. WHY YOU SHOULD SUPPORT THIS IMPORTANT CAMPAIGNAccording to the United Nations, more than 1,400 Palestinians were killed and hundreds of thousands were made homeless during the attack on Gaza and still live in tents. Many more are living in the ruins of their houses or with relatives. Reconstruction has been hampered by the Israeli blockade that stops basic building materials such as cement and steel from reaching the Gaza Strip. It is now one year later, and no progress has been made. In fact the situation is more dire than ever. Israel's blockade of Gaza is a flagrant violation of international law that has led to mass suffering. The U.S., the European Union, and the rest of the international community are complicit. The law is clear. The conscience of humankind is shocked. Yet, the siege of Gaza continues. It is time for us to take action! When governments of the world fail to act, we the people must.
