December 1, 2017
Dear Friends of the Peace & Justice Center and the Collins Foundation,
In the past year we have been reeling at the attacks on our democracy, the assaults on our diverse community, the escalating threat of war, and the worldwide impact of climate chaos. On the national and international levels, the situation is dire.
But as 2017 comes to a close, let’s turn our attention and hopes to the local level, where certainly in our community, our county, and our state we are seeing an unprecedented level of progressive activism. As Board members of the Peace & Justice Center, we want to learn from and engage with the numerous local grassroots struggles led by people of color, women, immigrants, youth, the LGBTQ community and people with disabilities.
We invite you to join us for a series of workshops / talks / discussion groups in the coming year to explore the legacy of the genocide and slavery on which our country was founded. We need to confront white supremacy, patriarchy, and various forms of privilege as we struggle for a society based on social justice, equality and peace. We want to offer the training needed to help empower community activists.
Once again we are calling on you to support our efforts. We’ve received a challenge grant, so your end-of-year donation will be matched up to $2000.
We thank you in advance for your ongoing support! Your donation is greatly appreciated. You can either donate online at sanjosepeace.org, call us at 408-297-2299 or send a check in the pre-stamped envelope included in your letter. Donations in the form of stocks, bonds, vehicles, and real estate are always welcome.
Warm greetings from the Peace & Justice Center Board:
