“Hey Jeppesen, shame, shame – there’s blood on your hands and blood on your name!” Under a blazing noontime sun on Friday June 20, 2008, protesters turned up the heat on Jeppesen Dataplan, the Boeing subsidiary whose flight-planning division located in downtown San Jose is responsible for facilitating the CIA’s torture flights. About 30 protesters returned on Thursday, June 26 for a one-hour vigil n front of the Jeppesen office at 225 West Santa Clara Street. June 26 has been designated by the U.N. as the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture.

Anti-torture activists from the Peninsula and South Bay marched from the Caltrain station to the front door of the high-rise building where Jeppesen has its 16th floor penthouse office. They were joined by Santa Clara County Supervisor Pete McHugh, who recalled that the Board of Supervisors had passed a resolution condemning the torture flights. Supervisor McHugh stated, “Torture is contrary to American values”. Protesters then marched to the Farmers’ Market at San Pedro Square to get maximum visibility for their signs and flyers demanding that Jeppesen break their ties to the CIA.
