The original Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) was founded in 1905 as a union which was the first to organize women, immigrants, and people of color and unskilled labor. The new South Bay IWW is continuing its tradition of organizing wage and salaried workers in the defense of their interests against their employers. Their goal is working toward a democratic worker self-managed economy and the abolition of the wage system.
