What is it like to do the back-breaking work of immigrants? To find out, award-winning journalist Gabriel Thompson spent a year working alongside Latino immigrants, who initially thought he was crazy or an undercover immigration agent. From Arizona lettuce !elds and an Alabama poultry plant to the kitchens of New York City restaurants, Thompson tells the stories of workers - immigrants and citizens alike - forced to live with chronic pain in the pursuit of eight dollars an hour.
