Description:	Benefit screening for Haiti earthquake relief followed by discussion led by a member of Haiti Action Committee. Admission free, donations accepted. This film traces the historical and political background to the problems in Haiti and speaks to why, although only 100 miles from the shores of the United States, Haiti has become the poorest country in the western hemisphere. The filmmaker, award-winning journalist Kevin Pina, whose wife is Haitian, has been reporting from the island nation since before the coup d'etat and kidnapping of former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide in 2004. The documentary will shed light on some disturbing anomalies of the rescue mission such as: Why were landing slots available for troop flights to the U.S.-controlled Port-au-Prince International Airport while Doctors Without Borders and other aid flights were diverted to the Dominican Republic?
