On Monday, April 24, Economics for Activists will discuss the timely 2016 book by John Angus, Facing the Anthropocene. Angus outlines the science that has caused geologists to conclude that the earth has entered an entirely new epoch called the Anthropocene. Human activity since the latter half of the twentieth century has not simply added pollution, it has actually created “a catastrophic convergence of multiple earth system failures.” The book traces the cause to what Angus calls fossil capitalism, and projects the ecosocialist revolution that is necessary to address it.
The book is 232 pages and is available at a reduced price from Greg Miller at 408-254-3311.
