Economics for Activists

When: Monday, May 22 2017 @ 07:00 PM - - 09:00PM
Where: San Jose Peace and Justice Center
48 South 7th Street
San Jose, CA 95112
Description:

The next Economics for Activists meets on Monday, May 22, and will discuss “Neofascism in the Whitehouse” and other articles assessing the economic and political basis of the Trump administration and Trump movement. We cannot effectively resist Trump policies if we have no analysis of the underlying economic causes driving them and the alignment of classes that is battling out the attempts to impose them. Who does Trump really represent? Who opposes him? Who can the working class rely on in its resistance to the attacks on immigrants, health care, housing, and on the survival of the earth itself?

The articles we will read include:

“Neofascism in the White House” by John Bellamy Foster, Monthly Review, April 2017 https://monthlyreview.org/2017/04/01/neofascism-in-the-white-house/

“How the Trump regime was manufactured by a war inside the Deep State” by Nafeez Ahmed, 2-10-17 https://medium.com/insurge-intelligence/how-the-trump-regime-was-manufactured-by-a-war-inside-the-deep-state-f9e757071c70#.ansheb6lf
