August 2017

Canvass against Islamophobia and racism

When: Saturday, August 12 2017 @ 01:00 PM - - 04:30PM
Where: Sunnyvale Presbyterian Church
728 W Fremont Ave
Sunnyvale, CA 94087
Description: In the face of intensified government, media, and individual attacks on Muslims, Arabs, and immigrants in the South Bay, we're asking our neighbors to show their solidarity with these communities. We will be canvassing businesses and residents in Sunnyvale asking them to put up signs that say "We stand with our Muslim, Arab, and Immigrant Neighbors". A few of us did a pilot canvass already, and were blown away by the enthusiastic response -- people are concerned, they just don't know what to do. Signs will not end these blights on our society, but they are a step in the right direction and encourage folks beyond the usual suspects to think about other ways to be involved. Join us!

Never canvassed before? Don't feel like an expert on this? Don't worry! At 1 pm, we'll do a training on our message and practice having these conversations. At 2, we'll go out IN PAIRS, and come back at 4 to share our experiences and some light refreshments. See you on Saturday August 12th at 1 pm at Sunnyvale Presbyterian!

Please RSVP so we know how many packets to prepare, etc., at the Facebook page and/or to southbay@jewishvoiceforpeace.org.
