On November 27, the Political Revolution Reading Group will discuss Chris Anderson’s 2009 analysis of the internet economy, Free, the Future of a Radical Price. Anderson, Editor-in-Chief of Wired magazine from 2001-12, explains that, “People are making lots of money charging nothing.” The book examines how this happened and where it is going.
Although Anderson’s economic views are rather conventional, his subject matter is so radical that it makes essential reading for anyone concerned with political revolution. It is impossible to address the social inequality created by the tech economy without some understanding of how it actually works.
Free is 257 pages long. For the November discussion we will read the first eight chapters, p. 1-134. We will not meet in December. On January 22 we will discuss chapters 9 through the end, pages 135-257.
