||Join our Peaceful Sidewalk Protest in support of the Poor People's Campaign, 2018. We welcome all Santa Clara and San Mateo residents. Meet us at the corner of El Camino Real and Embarcadero in Palo Alto outside the Town and Country Village shopping center and be part of a "revival" of the campaign of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. led 1968.
WILPF is part of the more than 100 faith-based and secular peace and justice groups, social service groups and agencies, and activists in the U.S. who are organizing similar events through June 23, when there is a demonstration in Washington, DC. We demonstrate peacefully to publicize that the "war" on poverty, racism, militarism, and ecological disaster is not over, and to work tirelessly to work for peace, justice and equalilty. WILPF will be involved in these issues for the long haul and invites all to come on the 11th. Bring family and friends. We have a 6' banner you can help us hold high. We have signs to share and you're welcome to bring your own
Please also see the listing for our other sidewalk demonstration on Friday May 25 on Memorial Day weekend, same time/same place. We demonstrate on the 25th for halting the war economy that steals from human needs and services, to demonstrate against nuclear weapons, and stand in support of providing for our military veterans' healthcare, education and housing needs.
For any other Fridays between the 11th and 25th, and every following Friday, we encourage these peaceful sidewalk demonstrations in support of the Poor People's Campaign.
