All are invited to share in an important discussion of the current crisis of mass incarceration and its deleterious effects on those caught in its grip as well as the negative impacts on society as a whole.
Speaker, American Friends Service Committee Program Director, Laura Magnani is renowned for her leadership in the field of prisoner’s rights and the Director of Bay Area Healing Justice Program. The program “works to reduce reliance on incarceration and other punitive approaches and replace them with restorative/healing practices. Toward that end BAHJ concentrates on four areas: mass incarceration, long-term isolation, the death penalty, and the promotion of healing alternatives”. Laura is co-author with Harmon Wray of Beyond Prison.
